Business As Unusual
An American expat perspective of living in France during the war in the east.
Everything is the same here, but yet the air feels thick with sadness, fear, and hatred for an entire culture of people who seem to enjoy killing others. Not even cancel culture can save the Russians. Here in France, we are finally returning to a sense of pre-covid normal, meanwhile, modern villain Vladimir Putin has asked his neighbors and fellow dictators in China for help in his war against Ukraine. China denies ever being asked the question, meanwhile, Biden has repeatedly warned that NATO will respond to any attack on a member country, but Russian state TV continues to insist that no NATO country will actually help one another. This assertion has observers concerned that Putin might widen the war to involve NATO, which would give him the legitimacy he needs to justify his war. Russian military forces recently fired missiles at a facility in Ukraine that was a mere15 miles from the Polish border.
In other words, Russia is shooting dangerously close to the NATO border, while at the same time asking China to help them break it, all the while taunting NATO by claiming that they don’t have to balls to war with Russia.
Meanwhile, business in Europe continues as usual. Here in France, everything is open and people are finally bidding…
